Our Story

About Yoto and Claire
Magda Guillaume, our Founder and recipient of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award for 2025, is bringing customers skincare that honors the earth while caring for their bodies.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Magda moved to Brooklyn in the 1970s. Growing up in East Flatbush, her Haitian roots shaped who she is today.
Magda's great-grandmother Claire showed her how nature heals. In her garden, Claire grew herbs and plants that kept the family healthy, wisdom that helped her live to 113 years old. Magda's great-grandfather Yoto, though she never met him, lived with deep respect for the land. It gave him energy and purpose.
In 2019, Magda founded Yoto and Claire in Brooklyn. She named it after her great-grandparents to honor their wisdom. Their respect for nature guides how she makes each product.
Every Yoto and Claire item contains only organic, vegan ingredients. Magda lists all ingredients clearly so customers know exactly what they're putting on their skin. She sources materials with care and uses earth-friendly packaging.
Yoto and Claire's natural body butters, hair creams, and Haitian Black Castor Oil nourish skin with the best gifts from nature.
Customers can shop online or find Yoto and Claire products in store at Brooklyn Made Stores in Industry City and City Point Mall, NiLu Gift Boutique in Harlem, Earth & Me in Park Slope, and Cambridge Naturals in Massachusetts.
